Nancy O'Dell's debut position in the broadcasting industry was as an anchor and reporter at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Then she became an anchor in the morning and a reporter at WCBD TV. O'Dell's reporting on the lax police response to DUI cases in Charleston led to an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in policy from state officials regarding DUI cases.
